Basketbolli, një nga sportet me te popullarizuara ne Kosove po shkon drejt rrënimit, për shkak te kushteve financiare, mungesës se njerëzve profesioniste dhe pengesave për tu anëtarësuar ne FIBA. Basketbolli ne Kosove i ndikuar edhe për shkak te rendesise dhe talenteve qe ky lloj sporti gëzonte ne ish -- Federaten Jugosllave, arriti shkëlqimin e tij sidomos pas luftës ne vitet 2002 2003, duke mbledhur mijëra shikues brenda dhe jashtë sallave te sportit, gjë qe u arrit edhe fale blerjes se mbi 50 lojatareve te huaj kryesisht amerikane.
Ferit Zekolli është një ish- basketbollist, i cili ka luajtura edhe për skuadra te tjera te ish -- Federates Jugosllave, si ne atë te Serbisë, Metallac Malev dhe për Zaran ne Kroaci. Një nga basketbollistet me te paguar atëkohë, sot flet me keqardhje për gjendjen ne te cilën është katandisur basketbolli kosovar. Sekretari i Përgjithshëm i FBK --se Nazmi Paçarada rendit disa nga arsyet te cilat e çuan basketbollin ne këtë gjendje: Kupën e basketbollit te Kosovës për këtë vit e fitoi "Xehtaret" e Trepces, te cilët munden ne finale kampionen e gjashte viteve te fundit Prishtinën .
