DAYTONA BEACH, FLORIDA — One wannabe burglar shocked a restaurant full of diners at Hibachi Grill and Supreme Buffet in Daytona Beach, Florida when he fell clear through the ceiling on Tuesday evening and nearly landed on them.
30-year-old Justin Grimes allegedly got into the ceiling of the Florida hibachi restaurant restaurant by cutting a hole in the ceiling of the men's bathroom. Police say that Grimes probably intended to crawl his way from the bathroom ceiling to the restaurant's main office where the restaurant's safe is kept.
When patrons commented on hearing noises in the ceiling, the manager went to his office to check the surveillance videos. He was astonished to find a pair of shoes on the floor, broken ceiling tiles and dangling wires.
As the manager was on the phone with 911 dispatch, huge pieces of the ceiling came crashing down followed by Grimes moments later.
Surveillance footage from the restaurant shows the moment when Grimes fell through the ceiling of the restaurant. Grimes can be seen falling on a table briefly before rolling onto the floor.
Grimes has been charged with burglary of an occupied structure.
