Colombia’s Attorney General has asked the Supreme Court to investigate former President Alvaro Uribe for collaborating with and financing paramilitary groups. He was accused of involvement with such groups when he was Governor of his home state Antioquia from 1995 to 1997. He began the controversial Convivir program to create armed citizen policing groups, through which he recruited hundreds of civilians to work as spies and extra fighters in army-led operations. The group was implicated in several killings. teleSUR
