Presidents Nicolas Maduro of Venezuela and Juan Manuel Santos of Colombia are discussing the crisis on the border between their two countries in a meeting hosted by Ecuador and Venezuela. Last month Maduro closed some border crossings and launched began to combat the smuggling of subsidized food, fuel and medicine out of Venezuela into Colombia. The move has saved Venezuela millions of dollars in lost goods and has been largely welcomed at home. Maduro plans to propose a pact of co-existence, respect, equality and peace. Santos says that his priority is respect between the two countries. teleSUR
