Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro called for a "new border of peace" with Colombia while reiterating his invitation to his Colombian counterpart Juan Manuel Santos for a face-to-face meeting to deal with the dispute. Maduro also announced that new measures would be implemented to ensure safety and security along the border and charged that Bogota had failed to meet Venezuelan requests to curb violence by Colombian paramilitary units, two of whose members were killed the previous day in a confrontation with Venezuelan forces. teleSUR
