Turkish prime minister Ahmet Davutoglu has asked opposition parties to join an interim government ahead of a snap election set for November 1.
Within hours two parties confirmed they would not take part, raising the prospect of a power-sharing cabinet dominated by Davutoglu’s AK Party.
“I have to form it in five days,” said Davutoglu. “All political parties should be represented based on the votes they received. Since leaders of opposition parties have turned down my propositions, my duty is to make offers to opposition deputies directly.”
