Ahmedabad: In a major initiative to safeguard the interest of property buyers and curb fraudulent property transactions and land grabbing by anti-socials, the Gujarat government had formed Special Investigation Team (SIT) in the year 2010 and since then state saw increase in such cases. In five years, 2,270 land fraud cases have been registered out of which 1,777 are solved while 493 are still pending. The city has come up with a rule of Power of Attorney (POA) in order to combat land frauds. Notably, in 1.5 years, Ahmedabad Rural police has received 199 applications of land fraud out of which 71 FIRs have been filed and police has arrested 133 persons.
