As deforestation and fragmentation are becoming more popular nowadays new research suggested that there are only two forests left intact on earth.A study by North Carolina State University, published in the journal Science Advances, states: “There are really only two big patches of intact forest left on Earth — the Amazon and the Congo — and they shine out like eyes from the centre of the map.”

Building roads through forests and tearing down trees to either build on the land or use the wood has caused the world's forests to diminish over time. The scientists showed that if one were dropped randomly into one of the world's many forests, there would be a 70 per cent chance of being within a half-mile of the forest edge.
