Mexico's Finance Ministry submitted its proposed 2016 budget to the Chamber of Deputies yesterday. In accordance with the government's neoliberal policy, the budget projects a 20% cut in spending on federal social programs, especially in social welfare, environmental protection, agricultural support, education, and culture. The executive branch, Defense Ministry, and Attorney General's Office were left largely immune from the budget reductions. Clayton Conn reports from Mexico City. teleSUR
