Hola Mohalla festival mela at Anand Sahib in Punjab.
The city of bliss, Anandpur Sahib, is the second-most important place of the Sikhs, after Amritsar. This holy city was founded by the ninth guru, Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, in the year 1664. In 1699, the tenth guru, Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji, founded the Khalsa Panth in Anandpur sahib by baptizing the Panj Pyaras or the five beloved Sikhs. Takht Shri Kesgarh Sahib Gurudwara was built at the same place where this sacred ceremony took place. It is among the Five Takhts that hold special significance for the Sikh community.
Gurudwara Kesgarh Sahib is located on the banks of the Sutlej River amidst the picturesque scenery of the Shivalik Hills. The landscape around the Gurudwara is as serene as the Gurudwara itself. The Takht Sahib is in the form of a square hall with a spacious courtyard and a balcony that overlooks the courtyard. Inside the doomed room, the weapons of the brave Sikhs are preserved as sacred relics right at the centre. The Holy Sarovar is on the plain ground on the west because of the limited space on top of the hill. A large pavilion has also been built for a larger assemblage.Every year, lacs of devotees gather at this place to celebrate the festival of Hola Mohalla, which falls in the month of March. The city brims with joys and colours of celebration, reliving the glory of its past. A feeling of bliss fills the heart as soon as you enter the holy city of Anandpur Sahib. The Gurudwara has a very calm environment that provides immense peace to the visitors. It is open for people of all kinds of religious beliefs. The Langar is served throughout the day as a blessing of the Guru. The feeling of bliss and the peace of mind experienced at this place make it a must-visit!
