`Hola Mohalla' celebrated with great fervour at Sri Anandpur Sahib

Punjab, Apr 01: Display of martial arts amid colourful processions mark the celebration of "Hola Mohalla". Thousands of Sikhs gathered at Sri Anandpur Sahib in Punjab's Ropar district to celebrate the annual spring festival with fervour and gusto. The festival commemorates the transformation of the Sikh community into a martial fraternity by Guru Gobind Singh, the tenth Guru of the Sikhs. Hola Mohalla coincides with Holi, the festival of colours, which was celebrated across India with great zeal and verve. Nihangs, the Sikh warriors, in their traditional attire took out a procession on the occasion. Expert in martial arts, the Nihangs were the centre of attraction as they displayed their skills in ancient warfare known as 'Gatka' and sword fighting. Visitors from around the world congregated at the holy shrine to take part in the festivities.
