Thousands of Haitian Dominicans are facing deportation from the Dominican Republic despite having been born in the country. The Dominican Constitutional Tribunal ruled in 2013 that descendants of undocumented foreign nationals were ineligible for Dominican nationality. This left more than 200,000 people stateless.
