Dutch technology company MX3D is planning to begin construction on a 3D printed bridge over a canal in Amsterdam using robots that can heat and weld the steel together on-site and in the air.

Three-dimensional printing is going to be operating outside the box--literally. 

A Dutch company is planning to use the technology to build an ornate and functional canal bridge right in the middle of Amsterdam. 

MX3D has developed robots that can use metal and resin to print large-scale structures in the air which it previously demonstrated with the creation of metal sculptures.
