Horrifying new CCTV footage shows the shocking conclusion of a north London bus fight, which saw a man kicked through the top window of a double-decker bus and sent tumbling onto the pavement like a rag doll.
The disturbing footage was taken on the afternoon of December 27, 2012 near London's Finsbury Park but was only aired for the first time on Sunday as part of a program on the BBC Two that examined the methods police use to investigate crimes on the city's buses.
The bus driver told the program that panicked passengers had notified him that a fight had broken out on the upper deck.
"So I'm slowing down and as I'm slowing down I look in my near side mirror and I just see a body drop," said the driver, identified as Elliot, according to a report by ninemsn.
The unidentified victim was struck with a kick so powerful he was sent out flying out a top-deck window. The window popped out of its frame, and the 43-year-old man crashed onto the sidewalk before rolling into the path of oncoming traffic on a busy London road.
"We know these windows can be kicked out with a great deal of effort," Detective Constable Tony Barun told the program. "But to see someone kicked so hard that he actually goes through the window and it pops the window out of its frame — I've never seen that before."
The victim survived the savage attack but is now paralyzed from the waist down.
Swift justice, however, doesn't appear to have been meted out, as the 38-year-old suspect managed to beat all the charges against him.
