London bus crash: Two trapped as double decker smashes into shop

A double-decker bus today (August 10) crashed into a building on Lavender Hill, south London, trapping two passengers and injuring a number of others, British police said.

Two women were trapped on the top deck of the bus and the London Fire Brigade used an areal ladder to bring them to safety.

The team posted photographs of the response effort on Twitter.

Nine people were treated for minor injuries and the driver was taken to a south London hospital, police said in a statement.

Transport for London confirmed that the incident involved a route 77 double-decker bus and that an investigation is already underway.
