Classic Game Room presents a CGR Undertow review of Hard Drivin’ for the Atari Lynx developed by Tengen and published by Atari. One of the very first racing games to utilize 3D graphics with polygons, Hard Drivin’ was a groundbreaking arcade game widely considered ahead of its time. And then there’s the Lynx version. Though also impressive for bringing polygonal graphics to a handheld gaming devices years before they were common even on home consoles, the gameplay unfortunately suffers from the burden on the hardware. Nonetheless, Hard Drivin’ is a 3D racing game with impressive tech. The controls are very sensitive, as well, so a gentle touch is required if you want to navigate the course properly. Let alone hit the loop-de-loop without crashing. Fortunately, you only seemed to crack the windshield, no biggie.
