Flight of capital stemming progress of Karachi: Usman Moazzam
Karachi, April 12: Accelerated flight of capital due to lawlessness has been stemming the progress and prosperity of Karachi, blocking its way to become the most advanced urban center of the region, said Pasban e Pakistan general secretary and candidate for NA-246 Karachi by-elections.
Lighting a symbolic ‘peace and love torch’ at his central election camp in Kareemabad area of Karachi on Sunday, he said Karachi is a peaceful city where peaceful people live. He said a few rotten eggs have harmed the peace and tranquility of the city, compelling traders and industrialists to opt for the flight of their capital. He said he would play his due role to bring back the shifted capital to the city. He said he would restore the confidence of traders and investors and ensure pouring in of the local and foreign investment back to Karachi. He said all sick units of the city would be reopened to create new jobs.
Usman Moazzam said a rapid industrialization is the only answer to spur the economy of Karachi and end frustration amongst youth due to the growing joblessness. He said for a lasting peace in the city it requires utilizing the hundred percent potential of the city, especially its industrial infrastructure and two major national ports.
He said besides the capital flight, an accelerated brain drain is another drawback of Karachi, as its educated, professional and trained citizens are opting to migrate in search of greener pastures. He said with improvement in law and order and peace, this brain drain could be checked. He said there is a dire need that our educated, professional and trained Karachiites stay in this city and serve it diligently.
Pasban leader on the occasion pledged to fight the crime, terrorism, target killings, kidnapping for ransom, extortions and strikes. He said he would play a due role for better and inexpensive education for the youths of Karachi. He said public transport is a lingering issue of Karachi and the revival of Karachi Circular Railway (KCR) is a must for this mega city. He said he would struggle for running of KCR, and solving other public transport issues of the city.
He said he is the resident of FB Area and himself belong to a middle class family and hence he fully know the problems of his voters and he would ensure these problems are solved at all costs.
A large number of people were present on the occasion, who raised slogans of Pakistan Zindaabad.
