The Twitter account for the US military’s Central Command was briefly taken over by pro-Islamic State individuals.

The Twitter account for the US military’s Central Command was taken over by pro-Islamic State individuals who used their brief access to make a number of threats towards American troops.

One post read, "AMERICAN SOLDIERS, WE ARE COMING, WATCH YOUR BACK,” and was signed ISIS.

Another said, "ISIS is already here, we are in your PCs, in each military base."

The latter was posted along with what appeared to be a webcam photo of a military location.

Personal information about some US commanders was also made public.

About 40 minutes after the tweets began to appear, Twitter shut down Central Command’s account.

A statement released by the government organization said that the situation was being investigated.
