Those in need of a large area of grass for an outdoor event can connect with those who own such property on a website similar to Airbnb.
Airbnb has revolutionized the way we vacation, allowing people to stay in strangers' apartments or homes for a nightly fee. Now, a site exists for those looking to rent a field.
The United Kingdom based company, called Field Lover, connects people who need a large outdoor area for weddings, concerts or other activities, with those who own such spaces.
The site offers half-day "micro-rentals" to something more long term depending on the need.
Along with events, a grassy area could be rented to graze animals such as ponies or livestock.
Currently, this form of rental is only available in the U.K., primarily because private owners oversee the various expanses of land.
It's possible the United States and Canada could eventually follow suit and offer the same service.
The company was founded in 2011, but it seems like the word hasn't fully spread just yet. Currently, the Field Lover Facebook page has less than 100 likes.
