My mind was a film
playing the past
going through memories
I wish would never last
I sat looking back
at what used to be
quickly wanting this to end
so I could focus on what’s now me

My mind was a movie
showing me what’s going on now
previewing my choices
that I hope to answer my question of how
I sat looking there
at what has now become
desiring for this to be done
or that I was completely numb

My mind was a video
going on fast forward
scanning my future
seeing what I’m headed towards
I sat looking ahead
at what I am to be
I wish I could change it
But life’s already been set for me
