ANDREW BLAKEMORE - As Softly As The Stream Does Flow

As softly as the stream does flow
Down from the hills above,
The waters pass and yet I know
They shall not bring me love.

Its silver surface shines so bright
Within the morning sun,
Yet cannot free me from my plight
For life has yet begun.

As floating leaves begin to sink
My heart does sink with thee,
For as they drown it makes me think
That joy I'll never see.

The sound so sweet unto my ear
I walk its winding way,
Then look upon its water clear
And wish for love this day.

As softly as the stream does flow
Around the rock and stone,
I think of love so long ago
As I now watch alone.
