ANDREW BLAKEMORE - As Soft As A Snowflake

Come winter relent let me hold her once more,
Let me feel all the joy that I had felt before,
Through the cold of December I wait here so long,
While these days are so empty I try to be strong,
As soft as a snowflake that melts in my hand,
And settles upon all this still frozen land,
I pray that the future will spare me of pain,
And her warm kiss shall greet me again.

Yet I'll never lose hope all the time she is gone,
Through grey skies that linger I shall carry on,
I don't want to wake up and face a new day,
When my thoughts are with her yet so far away,
As soft as a snowflake that melts in my hand,
And settles upon all this still frozen land,
My tears gently fall for this sorrow I feel,
If only my dream could be real.

The chill wind is blowing no sign of her yet,
Another day ends and I'm feeling upset,
The nights are the longest and so hard to bear,
When I close my eyes I shall picture her there,
As soft as a snowflake that melts in my hand,
And settles upon all this still frozen land,
I long for the springtime to bring me good cheer,
And the fresh breeze to carry her here.

Now darkness has fallen but I'll never rest,
As I know that with fortune I've never been blessed,
And sadness a shadow wherever I go,
That seems never ending and only does grow,
As soft as a snowflake that melts in my hand,
And settles upon all this still frozen land,
I wish that the clouds now would break up above,
And the stars guide the way to my love.
