He took the words from a worn old book
Oh how I loved the way they rhymed
My daddy read the words so well
They are truly precious memories of mine
I’d have my bath in the nighttime then
My daddy would take out that book
There were no pictures at all, you see
But still I’d have a vivid look
The way he read this book so well
And the emphasis he would make
Some scary ones for I could see
The monsters but I wouldn’t shake
I’d snuggle close to this man’s side
For he was my hero for sure
And then we’d put the book away
After prayers my dreams were pure!
