Many had walked these very lanes,
Two thousand years ago,
Carrying a wooden cross,
And were crucified in the end:
Yet, all were sinful men!
But just one man
With a spotless soul,
Carried a cross to Calvary,
And shed his blood and died:
For not a fault of his,
But for mankind’s every sin,
And redeem souls for heaven,
In obedience to the Holy Will
Of God, His Father!
The Scriptures foretold his birth,
And death and resurrection
On the third day.
That man was Jesus Christ:
The Lamb of God,
The Son begotten,
The Lord of hosts,
The divine Judge!
He will come a second time,
In the glory of angels,
For the final celestial harvest:
Of souls!
To pluck the weeds and burn them down in hell;
To store the grains in the heaven’s granaries;
To separate the righteous from evil.
And with that,
This earth will cease,
And the world will end
Forever!
