You, my beloved, bring light to my soul
Before I met you, I lived on parole
Freedom, elusive, seemed so far out of reach
No matter the lessons that life tried to teach
Daffodils, dancing, abloom in my heart
Sprout angelic wings, they swoop and they dart
Yellow with great joy, their petals unfurl
And now, thanks to you, I love being a girl
Flowers, in prison, can’t thrive – they just die
No wings can grow there – without you, I can’t fly
