Over years gone by
I cast my mind's eye
Times and places
Well loved faces
Lessons learned
Trusts earned
Blood, sweat and tears
Punctuate the years
Between laughs and love
And guidance from above
On rock solid friends
My stability depends
Yet I have real independance
With no thought of vengeance
To those that do me wrong
I sing a different song
Life's too short for 'What ifs'
I revel in it's gifts
Addicted to my quality of life
I minimise the strife
Driven by the pursuit of pleasure
I taste and feel the value of leisure
Cash is not the guiding force
Without riches my life takes it's course
The simple pleasures satisfy me
Most of the best things in life are free
Conformity be hung
I'll be forever young
With the benefit of experience
I develop my existence
Forty years gone
Bring the next forty on
I have expectations
Of unknown destinations
Of people that inspire
Of unknown desire
Of new things to see
And also to be
My joie de vivre shows
And on it goes.....
