Destruction Of A Soul

Born free, as free as the wind blows...

Have you ever watched the clouds in the sky,
Some very white and fluffy, others, dark and ominous,
Some so very wispy, that don't amount to much?
Have you ever watched the clouds moving along,
On a nice sunny day and in no real, particular hurry?
Have you seen the funny formations they make,
Changing themselves in the strong currents of the wind?
Have you ever laid back, and watched those same,
Clouds pass over the moon, on a warm clear night?

Have you ever watched the destruction of a human soul,
Who in sadness and anguish, loses the will,
To continue in something that has eluded it for always,
Oh so close and yet so very far away?
A soul who is still strong, but weakening with time,
A soul who is brave, but finds no shame in cowardice,
A soul who has been dragged and tortured in the ring of fire,
A soul that can no longer abide without the love,
Of her man, still so very far away and ethereal.
A love that was promised on bended knee,
A love she knows will come when he will be,
Through with his mandatory tests,
So that he can follow his dream, his goal, his life.

But my life? My goal? My dream? If only I could've seen,
That they disappear as the clouds, gone with the wind.
