I woke at dawn,
mischief in mind.
Some dragonflies,
I had to find.

My sister’s lunch,
would be a treat.
A sandwich full,
of dragonflies sweet.

Those flying bugs,
I’d catch a dozen.
Maybe fry or bake,
I’d use the oven.

Or squish them up,
maybe make a jam.
I’d use the masher,
pinch it off my mam.

I’d stick those bugs,
onto toasted bread.
I’d use the wings,
feet, legs and head.

I’d serve it warm,
with beetle sauce.
I’ll watch her crunch it,
while I chuckle, of course!

Why would I do this?
I hear you say.
Revenge for tadpole soup,
she served me yesterday!
