Since the beginning of time there has been nothing that bridges cultures and brings people together quite like music. It can be used to relax us or to inspire us to move and dance. In the past few decades Neuroscientists have delved deeper into understanding the brain and its association with music.

All too often people walk in the door and turn on the TV like it’s a lamp. Now that you know that the healing power of music is rooted in history and science, we challenge you to turn off the TV and turn on some music. If there are unhealthy time drains that you’re participating in, maybe you can replace that time with music instead. Make yourself an uplifting and inspiring playlist that you can use to wake up and to be productive!

Michael Levine Bio

Michael describes his career as “pathologically eclectic”. Born in Tokyo, raised in the Midwest, Michael moved to New York City where his first jobs were playing violin and harmonica on the streets, in Irish pubs, country western bars, and in the underground rock band scene. He moved on to being a studio musician where he worked with Lenny Kravitz, Joe Jackson, Marianne Faithfull, Boy George, and Grandmaster Flash, (on keyboards).

Eventually, Michael began writing music for advertising. His groundbreaking and widely imitated work for Mitsubishi Eclipse won him the first of two Clio awards. But it is his Kit Kat “Gimme A Break” jingle (with lyricist Ken Shuldman) that was named top commercial “earworm” of all time by a Univ. of Cincinnati study.

From there, Michael began scoring television shows and films including dramas, Cold Case and Close To Home (CBS), and the films Adrift in Manhattan (Heather Graham). Columbus Day (Val Kilmer), and Fugly (John Leguizamo). He also wrote the Scrat-the-Stoneage-squirrel theme for the Ice Age series.

Levine has served as support composer and violinist for Hans Zimmer, Harry Gregson-Williams, and Cliff Martinez on films including Batman Dark Knight, Rango, and The Simpsons Movie. He produced songs for the hit Nickelodeon show “The Naked Bros. Band”, which became a #1 hit on the Billboard Kids charts. He has scored commercials for both Ron Howard (Amex) and James Brooks (Coke). He has been awarded eight ASCAP Film and Television Music Awards.

Michael remains dedicated to art music. Besides his critically praised “Divination By Mirrors: Concerto for Musical Saw and Strings” and “Concerto for Pedal Steel Guitar and Orchestra”, Michael was awarded the LA Weekly theater music award for his work in the Jim Leonard play, Battle Hymn, presented at the Anson Ford Theater.

Michael currently serves as a Governor for the Television Academy (Emmys). In that capacity he produced “Score!”, the first Academy-sponsored orchestral concert of television music on May 21, 2014.

Christian Cristiano received his Masters of Science in Traditional Chinese Medicine from the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine. The school’s renowned full-time program requires students to combine coursework with concurrent clinical internships, providing exposure to patients during the entire four years of study.

Christian received his B.S. in Business Administration and Marketing. After graduating, he started and managed a successful personal training business instilling in him a passion for helping people reach their goals.

Christian also studied at the University of Madrid at Cumplutense, where he became fluent in Spanish. After spending two years in Madrid, Christian was recruited for an extremely stressful position at a high-profile company in Chicago. He soon started suffering from shortness of breath and other respiratory issues, prompting him to visit several western MDs. Each diagnosed his condition as stress-related, and despite the fact that he was in his 20s and in otherwise good health, two of the doctors prescribed heavy tranquilizers.
