It sat there, so pretty in pink,
But soon my heart started to sink
At that sad intimation
Of the mad invitation.
What did they want me to think?
“The party’s on Saturday next:
The theme is unusual dress,
The dafter, the better,
Mad hatter, trendsetter,
As long as you dress to impress.”
But that’s just the thing that I hate,
And so I’m resigned to my fate:
I might as well wind up,
Since I can’t make my mind up
As to what to wear, till too late.
