Alfred Ramos - Divorce

My best friend is getting a divorce
Don’t know how his 30 year marriage went off course
I have to ask him hundreds of questions
It’s too late for suggestions
And the biggest question of all
Although none of them are small
That would be, how did you fall out of love
When you made the decision, what were you thinking of
Ready to throw 30 years away
When everyone thought your life was a model on display
Was it all a false façade?
You fooled everyone maybe even God
Did your love life in the bedroom go sour?
You couldn’t keep it up every waking hour
Was some demon hiding underneath your bed?
Listening to all the secrets that were said
Did your brain lose a bolt or two
Was it a jolt that loosened a screw?
Can you take tons of memories and pack them away in a suitcase
Because too much time was invested to lose with grace
Were you waiting for the kids to leave the house?
Was it all planned out or were you just a louse
Remember the double dating and how it was so much fun
Staying out till the wee hours, racing home to beat the sun
So now you tell me it’s all going down the drain
You’re breaking away from that ball and chain
All I can say is that I feel sorry for you
I guess dreams don’t always come true
