No matter how hard I try
I'm stuck somewhere between nowhere and goodbye
I know I have misplaced a jewel
By taking the lead role of the fool

A jester, a clown, in the world’s court
Searching for what’s lost, before one can retort
A jewel, a thought, a precious moment
Lost nowhere, so how could it a praise foment

I stand in a dark sun where stars go to die
And long shadows are left to cry
I serenade with a crescendo of sobs and sighs
A foolhardy attempt to erase all the goodbyes

But where shall we go, after all the goodbyes
Shall we go nowhere, into the quiet of cries
Where light and shadows stop playing their game
And joy and sorrow resolve their blame

Between near insanity and self analysis
I expose a weakness of hope paralysis
Falling untouched with grave connotations of an abyss
A blindly astute observation of eternal bliss

So where is bliss, where does she retreat
I’m seeking her out, to surrender at her feet
This paralysis, in the hope she may grant
A glimpse of that eternal release so scant

Do I have to dig deep into depth unknown
And find the courage I have never shown
If she’s waiting, lingering at heaven’s door
With true vigilance it’s a sign I must not ignore
