ANDREW BLAKEMORE - Footmarks In The Sand

I strolled beside the water's edge
The sea a ghostly grey,
The cloud hung like a veil of mist
That drew across the bay.

My saddened heart beat like the waves
Upon that restless sea,
As I walked on that windswept shore
As lonely as could be.

My mind was filled with questions
Formed by wells of deep despair,
A broken soul no place to go
Yet found no answers there.

I walked until the tide did turn
And hid the prints I'd made,
Upon the sand, I paused awhile
And watched my footmarks fade.

As they were lost I felt the cold
As evening slipped away,
As there I stood and stared upon
The sea of ghostly grey.
