ANDREW BLAKEMORE - Sunset

I watch the golden sunset and
The clouds like embers glow,
Across the skies of evening time
As gently they now blow.

The ever-changing picture of
A canvas incomplete,
The colours of the paint box now
Are blending as they meet.

As yellow turns to amber and
The daylight starts to fade,
The sun is sinking quickly as
The ground is cast in shade.

It sinks below the rooftops now
Yet still the fiery sky,
Persists a little longer there
Until the colours die.

The light is gently fading now
With darkness creeping fast,
To douse the dying embers there
For now the day has passed.
