A tapping at the door
Was a prelude to what was in store
In a panic you did profess
Absent car keys made you mind a mess
Can’t believe that they are missing
Yesterdays ventures you are reminiscing
You ask hopefully, if we have a spare set
From which to copy so you won’t fret
It has been such a long time since we owned
The car whose silence now causes you to moan
At the bottom of the key cup are untagged possibilities
See if they cure the disabled automobile’s capabilities
Wonder of all wonders, the unmarked keys mark success
Your cheerful voice echoes with glee relieving stress
A promise to duplicate and return ours for safekeeping
In a rush you are on your way, hours are quickly fleeting
Later, your humming car arrives, delivering you from despair…
'Hold on to these keys in case I ever a need for a spare.'
Reaching into your pants pocket your original keys appear
In a moment of revelation your eyes stare, as you feel queer
How can this be? How could you have overlooked the obvious?
Your overwhelming embarrassment surpasses enormous...
Oh well, at least you were motivated to obtain a back up pair
The incident opened your eyes… hopefully you’ll be more aware
