Mercy tells of her sweetness
Like a tall, chilled pitcher of lemonade
On a sweltering hot Southern summer day.
She chills our thirst, quenching it
Like water puts out a fire.
She blankets our too hot secrets,
Covering our mistakes,
Forgiving us,
Long before we can
Forgive ourselves.
Mercy changes us,
Delivering compassion to us,
Making us able to love others second,
After we have learned to love,
And forgive, ourselves.
