He left Eden in the early seventies and he hit the wandering track
And to the sea side Town of Southern New South Wales he never did go back
He has been in many Countries for adventure he still long
And the restless bug of wander is alive in him and strong.

And the restless bug of wander in him since he was a boy
Is alive and strong as ever and will be in him till he die
He has seen the lights of London and the mighty Amazon he see
Winding through the great rainforests on it's way down to the sea

He has been to the Serengeti where the zebra and wildebeest range free
And he has seen the lions hunting and seen a leopard on a tree
With a gazelle he had dragged up there and the memories with him remain
Of his moments of excitement at the bull running in Spain.

In a small Town in the Australian Outback he left a woman in tears
With the daughter he had fathered he has not seen them for years
it was the bug of wander that from them forced him away
And the young dad of the seventies may be the grand dad of today.

Once recognized as a top shearer he spent time as a jackeroo
Worked as a drainer and on city building sites just a few of the things he did do
For to earn himself a living pay for his life on the road
And the future is uncertain for those of no fixed abode.

To his Hometown in Southern New South Wales he will not be going back
For his journeys lead him onward up another distant track
Says he will re-visit Java 'tis a different World up there
And the wander bug still in him though the gray is in his hair.
