Six people were killed in Kenya's capital Nairobi after two bombs exploded on Monday in the city's Eastleigh neighborhood.
The twin blasts went off on 11th Street, some 50m apart. According to eyewitnesses, people were on their way home for the evening when the devices, reportedly grenades, were thrown towards a bus stop and a food kiosk.
Witnesses said they heard a third blast in the area but police could not confirm, The Standard reported.
The explosions killed six people and seriously injured several others, nine according to Reuters.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack.
Eastleigh has seen several grenade attacks recently, which have been blamed on Somalia's Islamist extremist group al Shabaab.
The group is responsible for attacking a Nairobi shopping mall in September and for killing at least 67 people.
According to the BBC, the militants had stayed in Eastleigh before launching the attack.
The threat of attacks is negatively impacting Kenya's tourism sector, President Uhuru Kenyatta was recently quoted by the BBC as saying.
Kenyatta met last week with ethnic Somalis leaders to find a way to bring the attacks to an end. "We all have a responsibility to bring this to an end," he said.
