Three students were injured in a shooting that took place at the parking lot of Brashear High School in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on Wednesday afternoon (November 13). Shots were fired at around 2:50 p.m., after classes were already over, when three students aged 16-17 were walking toward a vehicle in the school parking lot.

Witnesses and residents in the area said they heard seven or eight shots fired. One of the three teens was grazed in the head, another in the neck and shoulder, while the third was shot in the leg and foot. At least one of the students ran into the school, seeking cover, after being shot. All three were rushed to area hospitals for treatment, but did not sustain life-threatening injuries.

Police say the shooter, who was said to be wearing black clothing, likely ran into the woods after the incident. Authorities who swept the area with canine units say the gunman have used a shotgun, as shell casings were found in the area, according to local news station WPXI-TV.

The motive behind the shooting is unclear, although Pittsburgh police spokeswoman Diane Richard said it is likely related to a fight that occurred at school a month earlier. The victims probably knew the shooter, but were not cooperating, police added.
