2014 BCS National Championship: Florida State vs Auburn, winner takes all

Views 55

The top-ranked Florida State Seminoles and second-ranked Auburn Tigers will meet in Pasadena on Jan. 6 for the 2014 BCS National Championship Game sponsored by Vizio at the famous Rose Bowl Stadium.

In only his fourth year as head coach, Jimbo Fisher has put Florida State football back on the map. Fisher has also put FSU on the verge of winning its third-ever national championship. The Noles have destroyed all their competition this season and are the only undefeated team left in the nation at 13-0. The Seminoles have won back-to-back ACC titles under Fisher. Fisher was recently awarded a fat contract extension through the 2018 season.

FSU has been played in three BCS National Championship games from 1998-2000. They lost to Tennessee in 1998, then beat Virginia Tech in 1999, but then lost again to Oklahoma in 2000.

The Auburn Tigers on the other hand have made an amazing turnaround in only a year. Last year, Auburn finished 3-9 and were 0-8 in the SEC. Coach Gus Malzahn has been able to lead the Tigers to a 12-1 overall record in just his first season as head coach. Auburn was able to pull off one of the most amazing comebacks in college football history this year over the two-time national champion Alabama when they stunned the Tide 34-28 on a last second field goal return for a touchdown. The Tigers the won the SEC Championship by defeating Missouri 59-42.

Come Monday, all the cards will be on the table. Can the Tigers pull out another miracle? Or will Winston lead the Noles to be 2014 national champions?
