I never learned the trade. they disappeared overnight. I was 26 years old. I knew I never learned the trade and I was young and stupid so I ignored the bills when they started coming in. It was a government student loan. when I explained to them that I was never taught the trade they said that that was my problem. I picked the school. So it went into default. in 1992 it was bought by Sallie Mae and the $4,000. loan was now 12,000. I made alot of attempts to make payments but filed for forebearances and deferrments whenever I got into a financial bind. This gives you a break but the interest keeps accumulating so now 21 years laters I owe 15,000. and the school closed down before I could complete the course. Granted I handled it wrong back in the 80's but through the years I'm sure I've paid the original debt a few times over. Is there any one that can help me get this cleared off my record? Apparently it can't be cleared with a bankruptcy. I'd even settle for it going back to the original debt amount. -
