Mount Sinabung volcano in western Indonesia erupted six times on Monday, spewing ash and gravel and sending more villagers to temporary shelters.
The eruption made panicked villagers flee their homes, seeking refuge either with relatives or at government provided temporary shelters.
Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG) put the volcano on its highest alert level. It has told the public not to come within five kilometres of the volcano.
