This just means that nothing else can directly ruin vocal tracks than those obvious pops. Pop shields are frequently built with nylon or metallic mesh. Some people at times make their own microphone pop shield by simply placing a stocking over a wire but this often doesn't filter the sound as good as the real microphone pop filters.
