I have been trying to eliminate all my debts that my ex-boyfriend had left me with and its just so overwhelming. I was thinking of filing for bankruptcy but I am unsure how or where to start. Am I suppose to get a lawyer to file bankruptcy? I heard bankruptcy stays on your record for 7 years, is that true? I have also heard that if I file for bankruptcy I can pay for someone to clear bankruptcy from my name/file for about $1,000 or more. Is that true?
