Homes and businesses owned by Muslims have been burnt to the ground by a mob of Buddhists in the the latest incident of sectarian violence in Myanmar.

Tensions flared in the northern Sagaing region after a Muslim man was detained by police and accused of raping a Buddhist woman.

Police arrested 12 people for taking part in the riot.
