A grandfather in the UK is serving as a huge form of inspiration for people across the globe. Tony Phoenix-Morrison, nicknamed ‘The Fridge’ will be running 40 marathons in 40 consecutive days.
In total he will run 1,053 miles with a refrigerator, weighing a little over 93 pounds, strapped to his back. The 49-year-old grandfather of two will be venturing from John O' Groats to Land's End, carrying the bright orange appliance.
Tony is carrying out the everyday marathon in order to raise money for the Bobby Robson Foundation, which conducts research into ground-breaking treatment for cancer.
Tony heartwarmingly stated “If you have lost somebody you love to cancer. If you are fighting cancer right now. If you have been affected by cancer in any way. Every step I take is a tribute to you.”
Tony is no stranger to running. Last year, he completed 30 half marathons in the same amount of consecutive days with an 88 pound fridge tied to his back. He ran an accumulated total of 390 miles.
