Dehra dun is a sprawling town in the terai region of the sub-Himalaya, nestled between the ancient Shivalik mountains and the younger Himalaya. It is growing fast, possibly beyond its capacity, and in recent years has been subject to rampant development, thus placing a strain on its resources.
