A company called Lone Signal is sending text messages into space.
The company is offering everyone a free initial message, and after that four additional text messages in any language for 99 cents.
The messages will be sent out to a solar system about 17 point 6 light years away from Earth known as the Gliese 526, which might be able to support life forms.
Lone Signal is sending the messages from their location at the Jamesburg Earth Station in Carmel Valley, California.
Messages are sent in text form and as a binary code that utilizes universal fundamental physics, which are more likely to be understood by alien beings.
According to co-founder of the company, Pierre Fabre “Our scientific goals are to discover sentient beings outside of our solar system, but an important part of this project is to get people to look beyond themselves and their differences by thinking about what they would say to a different civilization. Lone Signal will allow people to do that.”
