We’re in Kentucky after three straight days of filling an SUV with sports cards… and we end up at one of the most unique “late-90s goodness” collections we’ve ever seen.
Meet Shane — not a lifelong collector, but a guy who bought an entire house collection that was literally so big it had to be cleaned out like debris. Cards in binders, cards everywhere, stacks sorted by A / B / C tiers, and hundreds of hours of work separating rookies, inserts, serial-numbered cards, shiny parallels, and autographs. This one is less about a single “grail card”… and more about the reality of what it takes to turn a massive collection into something sellable.
We dig through the best moments, talk about what resellers look for, and get into a real negotiation where Shane understands something most sellers don’t: the work is the cost. And just when the day couldn’t get more random… we end up grabbing a U-Haul from a place that’s ALSO a sports card shop — and learn the incredible story behind Liberty Sports Cards.
All of these cards are headed to the Chasing Marketplace for live selling, so if you want a shot at the best of the late-90s finds, check the links and schedule in the show notes.
