Two men allegedly try to burglarize a cop car with officers inside.
Not all criminals are wise. Two men in Arizona were arrested after they allegedly tried to break into an unmarked cop car.
To make matters even worse, the vehicle was occupied at the time by two law enforcement officers. Paul Gardener and Chad Leakey are the suspects in question.
According to a spokesperson at the Tempe police department, both males tried to run away from the scene after Gardener opened the car’s back door and tried to get inside. Once he realized there were cage-like bars on the interior, he put 2 and 2 together and knew he was in a police issued vehicle.
Officers soon caught up with the men.
Last year, another not-so-savvy man, Joshua Carter from Louisiana attempted to carjack an automobile stopped at a red light. He began hitting the window and trying to open the door, but he made a crucial mistake; the vehicle was an undercover cop car containing two federal agents and a state police detective.
Once Carter realized the car was full of officers, the 25-year-old ran from the scene, however law enforcement officials chased and detained him.
